{1} What are 3 must haves for a long road trip?
{2} What was the destination of your most recent road trip?
{3} What do you miss most about home when on a trip?
{4} What is the furthest you have traveled on a road trip?
{5} Will you “stop for the largest ball of twine, etc” or are you a “hurry and get there” road tripper?

My must haves for any road trip-  good music, a sense of adventure and a good lookout.
(Shh the lookout watches for cops so you can slow down in time. ;-) )

Most recent destination – dang it has been SOOOOOOOOOO long- from New Hampshire to New York to New Jersey then back to New Hampshire when I was visiting mom a couple of years ago.

What I miss most when I am on the road-  hmmmm any family members left behind, my doggies and home cooking.

Farthest traveled on a road trip would be New Hampshire to Alaska.  Or Alaska to Florida.  One of those-  I suck at geography.   Florida seems farther, but New Hampshire took longer.  Of course that was in the winter and Canada in the ice and snow will put days onto your trip.

I won’t stop for goofy crap but we stop along the way to shop or see people, go to festivals or explore.  Don’t really care about monuments to Teflon pans etc.

Loved the questions this week- I absolutely adore road trips when I have a dependable car and enough $ not to sweat the gas or meals.   Especially if I am moving but we’ve not done that in a long time.  I love moving too.  A lot.

I’m not crazy I’m just a little unwell.

How about you-  do you like road trips?  Play along with Mamarazzi, Alicia and the gang then press the button to link up.

Wordless Wednesday A Few Cancun Pics W/LINKY

This is the view from our hotel balcony- the others are a few random pics from my camera. None are photoshopped or touched up. Hopefully Dev will be able to find hers and do our vacation post soon. The peacock was forever chasing people and trying to keep us off the path- luckily he left us mostly alone (or we took alternate routes if someone wasn’t distracting him so we could pass.)

Update on Kay Jewelers

I posted last weekend about being kicked out of Kay Jewelers in a display of age discrimination, as well as e-mailing the company.

I’m pleased to say that a couple of days ago, a customer service rep e-mailed me back. The matter has been discussed with the management of the store, as well as the district manager, so hopefully the incident won’t be repeated.

It always makes me happy to see companies taking responsibility and addressing issues that need to be fixed. My friends and I will be returning to Kay in the future for our jewelry wants/needs.

Poor service at Kay Jewelers…

Geekazoid here.

At the local mall tonight, I went to Kay Jewelers with three of my friends.. We’re all eighteen, and look young. One of my friends was looking for a pair of earrings; she’s allergic to any lesser quality metal than 24 ct gold. We decided to look around before hitting the earrings (because… why not?).

When we had been there for maybe five minutes, a security guard walked up to us and informed us that the store manager had asked him to tell us to leave the premises. He then ordered us out and followed us until we were well clear of the store, then stood for several moments watching us (to, I presume, ensure that we didn’t go back in).

We weren’t being loud. We weren’t causing trouble or loitering or spending excess amounts of time in the store. We were told to leave because of our age.

My friend went back a few minutes later and requested a phone number to file a complaint, and was simply informed that the mall office would be open on Monday. I went ahead and contacted Kay via their website instead; that was just a few minutes ago, so of course no response yet. I’ll update when there is one.

I understand that they don’t want a bunch of people just browsing their store with no intention of buying anything. But just because my friends and I look young, they assumed that we were only there to waste time, and they not only lost business but angered a blogger (never a good idea :P ). It was blatant age discrimination, and NOT okay.

While I enjoy Kay products and my friend has previously bought several (really nice) pairs of earrings there, I certainly won’t be going back if they’re going to kick me out because I’m a teenager and look like one. Next time we want to buy jewelry when at the mall, we’ll be taking our business to Pandora or Zales.

Derp Moments, Guided Meditation, Prom or Edgefest?

randomtuesday
So we’ve been having total derp (or durp) moments lately.  I was shocked when Ki posted her FB status as Durpness is generally not something one aspires to (you had to be there, we totally kept outdoing each other on the derp moments) how many people didn’t know what it meant. Both spellings are used, when looking it up and I prefer derp so I am sticking to it.  Basically it means doing something completely lame and stupid and idiotic.

~~~~~I am listening to an Abraham-Hicks CD, Getting Into The Vortex: Guided Meditations CD and User Guide and it’s 15 minutes a day on whichever subject- general well being, financial abundance, health or relationships.  It’s the easy way to get into a non-resistant state so you can manifest your desires more easily.  I desire a lot.  Can we say high maintenance diva?  Anyhoo I’m listening to the health one today and about halfway through my stomach starts getting all ouchified (more than normal it’s a pain I live with) then I start puking again.  Not uncommon, of course since that’s all part of the bs I live with (see why I need this CD?) but really, in the middle of the health meditation?  Only me, right?  This is supposed to be 15 minutes a day where I completely let go of my problems.  I really like it, it’s easy to do and it teaches you how to slow your breaths down for maximum benefits.  For 15 bucks, all I can say is MOST OF THE TIME I feel great when I listen to the various sessions, and I know other times during the day I find myself paying attention to my breathing.  I’ve been using for less than a week and I know I will continue because it does make me feel better.  The puking was gross, I mean, c’mon, how could it not be but I immediately felt better again and that is NOT usual.  So it might take time but I choose to believe it will help me get better where the docs etc can’t and I know that it is making a difference, although slight, already.
~~~~~Dev has a dilemma-  they moved her prom date up a week and she had plans to do a big deal thing with her friends with Casey doing their hair and makeup and whatnot.  Sounds fun, right?  Well she forgot about that and told her boyfriend that she’d be glad to give up prom for Edgefest – the lineup is spectacular:  Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, Three Days Grace, Seether, Theory Of A Deadman, Skillet, Sevendust, Halestorm, Art of Dying and more.  I saw Three Days Grace with Nickelback & Buck Cherry last year and they put on a helluva show.  I know I say keep your word/commitments, but really, she can do senior prom next year.  But she can’t let down her friends.  Can she?  No, wouldn’t be right.  Maybe she can talk them into Edgefest.  How stupid of the school to put it on at the same time.

~~~~~Does anyone else go through headphones like water?  It seems like I no sooner buy one pair than another needs replacing.  It’s not that they are the cheapos-  doesn’t seem to matter if we spend next to nothing or an arm and a leg, we always seem to be buying them.  Printers too-  we seem to go through them exceptionally fast and that’s after they NEVER WORKED RIGHT in the first place even with the great reviews.  Thankfully we don’t have this kind of luck with computers.
That’s all I’ve got, for more random, head on over to Keely’s and play along.
